Armenia still remains a place of mystery to
most people. A land steeped in ancient history. The Armenians have their
origins from Indo-European tribes that migrated from the Balkan peninsula
into Macedonia and Thracia, also into Capadocia and Araradian Ashkar. The
Armens became one of the Phyrigian Tribe and came to Armenia when the
Hittitian Kingdom was destroyed. They were originally known as the
Askanas.Contemporary with the Armen arrival in Armenia, the Scythians came from
the north and destroyed The Urartu Kingdom. The local people who included the
Urartus and the Nayires absorbed the Armens national and moral
characteristics. The advance of Greek forces in the sixth century and the
rise of Persia and their attack on Urartus.
This caused the division of Armenia into two states, High Armenia and
Minor Armenia and caused the Armens to assimilate local tribes with their own
language, cultural and religious heritage. Within these pages we examine the
background of the Armenian history, Roman occupation, monarchies and Ottoman
administration as Armenians held on their heritage throughout adversity.
Recent DNA analyses have indicated
an Arabic origin of the Armenian people.
